Forgetting Man 911

2020

Forgetting Man 911 is a video projection from 2020. In this project, I experiment with mediums and materials. We are witnessing the decay of Richard Drew's 'Falling Man,' which closely resembles the biological rotting process until only the skeleton of the photo remains. This results from numerous times posting and screenshotting the digital image on Instagram.

By doing so, I wish to dismantle the aura of indestructibility and infinity of the digital image and question the role of memory and forgetting in creating a narrative.

Accompanying the work is an essay, "The Rise of a Narrative and the Narrative of a Fall; an image comparison of Richard Drew's 'Falling Man' and Jerry Siegel's/Joe Shuster's Superman"
